The British Award for African Development (BRAAD)
Awarding Excellence for Outstanding Achievements
London, United Kingdom – October 17th, 2017. The British Award for African Development (BRAAD) will host its 2nd forum at the stunning Watford Hilton Hotel on the 30th October 2017 between 16:00 -19:00 hours. The event will mark the opening of the nomination of the 2nd BRAAD Awards.
On the same occasion, BRAAD will launch “African Entrepreneurship Week”, the “BRAAD Entrepreneurship Fund” and the commercial arm of the BRAAD platform, KNG Strategy.
The inaugural British Award for African Development (2015) marked a sharp departure from the usual solicitations for donations in Africa. BRAAD penetrated the market in a different light as it provided a curated forum for all stakeholders engaged in the region to commingle – politicians and diplomats, entrepreneurs, private sector companies, non-profits and social enterprises investing in the African Diaspora.
The Founder and Curator of BRAAD, Mr. Jean Bosco, remarks during the launch of the awards in October 2015 that he wanted to create a space to:
“Ensure the recognition of talented men and women from various industries and sectors for their outstanding achievements, whether for their work in the African communities in the UK or for their involvement in creating jobs, providing support, [and] facilitating the prosperity of disadvantaged communities in Africa”.
BRAAD’s launch in 2015 hosted a star-studded guest-list that ranged between high-ranking diplomats, parliamentarians, and outstanding C-suite level attendees with nominees such as Oluwatoyin Sanni, CEO of United Capital Group, Dr Denis Mukwege, Founder of Panzi Hospital in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Akon Lighting Africa, and Moïse Katumbi, the former Governor of Katanga in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
BRAAD is a business and development forum that seeks to recognise and highlight the exceptional achievements within Africa and the African Diaspora that focus on innovative business ideas and entrepreneurship. BRAAD provides a nexus for exploring business opportunities between the United Kingdom and African markets. It seeks to co-create and foster long- standing opportunities to further economic growth through engaging public and private sector finance. Outstanding candidates are presented with awards in December (2017) by an array of BRAAD’s patrons and network of parliamentarians.
